Roche Strengthen the Role of Modeling and Simulation

in Clinical Drug Development

       Mid-2007 Roche introduced a new organization allowing a more
proactive role of M&S across the value chain of clinical development.
The M&S group belongs to a new science department: Methodology &
Innovation (M&I) which ensures that leading-edge methods are applied in
such areas as modeling and simulation (M&S), biostatistics, translation
medicine and experimental medicine

      High expectation and full support from the head of Pharma
Development on the impact of M&S with the following vision: "A
model-based drug development"

      High visibility with a Disease Area M&S Experts in direct contact
with each of the five Disease Area Leadership Teams which manage the
compounds from drug discovery through to medical proof of concept, with
oversight through to the market

      Increase in efficiency with a programming support for dataset
building and graphical analyses

      Increase in capacity with 7 M&S positions opened in the US
(Nutley, NJ and Palo-Alto, CA): 1 management position (local Head), 5
pharmacometrician positions and 2 entry level positions
