Has anyone installed NONMEM on a MAC Power PC-based machine? I would be
interested in any recommendations on fortran compilers for the Mac.

While adding Topic 22 (NONMEM on the PowerMac) to the NMUSERs archives
[http://www.cpb.uokhsc.edu/common/anonymous/nm/t_index.html] I noticed that
there were no responses. Two weeks and two compiler version later I have been
able to install and run NONMEM on a PowerMac with (I think) good results. I
used the sample runs presented in:
NONMEM User's Guide Part III (Nov 92) Page 3. Using the NONMEM20-25 files.

as benchmarks. The timings etc. are shown above. Times are about half the 1992
benchmark values. I've put together a few files including the make files for the
Absoft compiler for the PowerMac v4.0.1.

Absoft has come up with another version of their FORTRAN compiler for the
Macintosh. This is V 4.1. I have recompiled the NONMEM files and put
together another version of the help folder for other Macintosh/NONMEM
users. Again the results are good (I think). I was able to optimize some
files I couldn't before and not optimize one or two that optimized with
v4.0 of the compiler. Oh well. The test runs are a little faster. I used
the sample runs presented in:
NONMEM User's Guide Part III (Nov 92) Page 3. Using the NONMEM20-25 files.

After running a test file a week or so back I noticed/remembered that I had
been using source files that had been 'converted' for the VAX and then
'converted' back for the PowerMac. [I ran into a small problem with an OPEN
statement when I ran the test file.] With the fresh files from a new
licence in hand I redid the install on the PowerMac this weekend. This
involved some changes to the 'cheat sheet' that I had prepared earlier. The
new archive is available via:
